01/06/2009 - (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - The Blackhawks snapped a brief losing streak their last time out minus young All-Star Patrick Kane. They hope they aren't forced to do that too often this season.
Chicago will likely be without Kane again tonight when it visits the Phoenix Coyotes and Jobing.com Arena seeking a sweep of the four-game season series.
Kane leads the Blackhawks with 41 points this season off 16 goals and 25 assists. However, he missed the first game of his career on Sunday, when he sat out due to a high ankle sprain. Kane, who is day-to-day with his injury, had played in 117 straight contests, including all 82 last year in his rookie campaign.
Chicago rebounded with a 5-2 victory over the Flames on Sunday after losing two straight to the Detroit Red Wings that came after a franchise-record nine- game winning streak. The second setback of that series came on New Year's Day in the 2009 Winter Classic at Wrigley Field.
Martin Havlat, Andrew Ladd and Patrick Sharp all had a goal and an assist each. Sharp's goal was his team-leading 20th of the season, but he won't be one of three Chicago starters for this year's All-Star game. Those honors belong to Kane, captain Jonathan Toews and defenseman Brian Campbell.
Kris Versteeg and Dustin Byfuglien also tallied for Chicago and Nikolai Khabibulin made 34 saves in the win.
The Blackhawks got back within eight points of first-place Detroit in the Central Division and begins a three-game road trip tonight. Kane is making the trip and Chicago is 9-6-3 on the road this year, having won five of its last six as the visiting squad.
Chicago has captured five straight over Phoenix, including wins in all three meetings this year. The Blackhawks notched a 7-1 home win when the clubs last met on December 7 and Chicago has taken two straight and three of four in Phoenix.
The Coyotes were last in action on Sunday and were dealt a 2-0 loss by division rival Anaheim. It marked the fourth time this season and second time in the last four games that the Coyotes have been shutout. They did notch eight goals in winning the two games in between.
Former Ducks netminder Ilya Bryzgalov stopped 32-of-34 shots but took the hard-luck loss against his former mates. The loss dropped Phoenix two points back of Anaheim for second place in the Pacific standings.
The Coyotes had won three of their last four coming into Sunday's game and begin a three-game homestand tonight. Phoenix is 13-5-2 as the host, having won four of its last five as Jobing.com Arena, and will also host Tampa Bay and Dallas on the residency.

Let’s take a look at the Super Bowl 2009 betting odds and the betting line and figure out where they’ve been and where they are going to go.
MySportsbook.com put up the Super Bowl 2009 betting odds late on Sunday night with the Pittsburgh Steelers favored by 6.5 points and a total betting line at 47.5 points.
Since then, however, the Super Bowl 2009 betting odds have seen a good deal of movement and you’ll want to be on top of where they are likely to move to make sure you get the best line value for the big game.
Since opening, the Super Bowl 2009 betting lines went to Steelers -7 in the span of roughly 3 hours but were quickly bought back down just minutes later to 6.5 again.
After that is took about 5-6 more hours before the betting line went back to -7 where it has sat for a while now and is likely to remain. The opening betting total of 47.5 was bet down right after the line became available and went to 47 within minutes.
Roughly a day later it has been bet even further down to the 46.5 tally it currently is set at.
Roughly 60% of gamblers seem to be on the Cardinals here so the point spread will be bet down and a 7.5 would not last very long at all with many taking the early 6.5 in hopes of finding a potential middle in the Super Bowl 2009 betting odds.
If you like Arizona and see a 7.5, I’d take it as soon as possible because it’s unlikely to last. For Pittsburgh backers, the -7 might be the best you’ll be able to find but a 6.5 is definitely possible close to game time.
Regarding the Super Bowl 2009 betting odds for the total, most tracked gamblers are already on the over and with those who took the under 47.5 already securing a middle on the over 46.5, the only way I see it moving is back up to 47 so if you like the over, I’d recommend betting now.

Sportsbook betting odds favor Europe in Ryder Cup
September 19, – Despite holding a decided edge in the all-time series, with 24 wins, 2 ties and 10 losses, Team USA is the underdog again heading into the Ryder Cup in Kidare, Ireland this weekend, according to MySportsbook.com. The Europeans have captured four of the past five editions, including their largest victory ever, an 18 ½ to 9 ½ thumping in Michigan in 2004. Current Ryder Cup betting odds favor the Europeans to continue their winning ways; they are a 4-5 bet to take the title, compared to 6-5 for the Americans.
Despite being knocked out in the first round of World Match play by Shaun Micheel, Tiger Woods is predicted to lead the US charge and be their highest point scorer for the week, with odds listed at 9-4 that he outpoints all other American players, including Jim Furyk, Phil Mickelson and Chris DiMarco to name a few. Team USA has four relatively unknown players on the roster but all four are 2007 tournament winners and have posted some of season’s best performances, each earning over $1.5 million on the PGA TOUR. They include Zach Johnson, Vaughan Taylor, JJ Henry and Brett Wetterich.
The experienced European squad includes the likes of Luke Donald, Sergio Garcia, Padraig Harrington, Jose Maria Olazabal and Darren Clarke, who’s emotions will be tested after the passing of his wife to a battle with cancer. Donald and Garcia are in particularly good form and each is a 5-1 bet to lead the European squad in the points race. Donald has proven he can go head to head with Woods at a major event after a run for the $1.2 million purse at the PGA Championship. Garcia’s Ryder Cup credentials prove he’s ready for battle too.
